帝王号、2010年の夏くらいから暫く走行すると（ミッションが暖まると）信号待ちなどで発進しようとすると１速に入りずらくなる症状が出始めました。そんな時はリバースにも入らなくなり、クラッチを数回踏みなおさないと入りません。これはクラッチの寿命です。クラッチディスクが熱で変形（ディスクの歪み）し、クラッチレリーズがカバーのダイヤフラムを押し込んでも変形したクラッチディスクはミッション側に動力を伝えてしまう為、シフトが入りづらくなるのです。クラッチの切れ不良というやつです。
時は経って2012年。いつクラッチが駄目になってもいいようにと帝王さんはアメリカへクラッチキットを注文。約一ヵ月後。届いた箱を開けてクラッチキットを見た帝王さんは「これは付かないな・・」と一目で判断。明らかに大きすぎるのです。
これ、S4用です(笑)
このクラッチ、見れば見るほど付くとは思えない。ＥＣＳのフライホイールを買っても本当に大丈夫？という恐怖(笑) 謎はこの大きなＳ４クラッチが本当に付くのか？という事。 問題のＥＣＳの動画に登場するのはＢ６の1.8ＴＱ。ミッションが降りているシーンをよく見ると、なんとなく帝王号のミッションより大きい感じもした。本当に同じがちょっと調べてみる。以下は適合するクラッチの詳細になるが、なるほどと思わせる共通点があった。

まず、心配していたシャフトの径（表の一番右端）。これはＳ４もＢ５・Ｂ６の1.8Ｔもシャフトの径は同じという事がわかった。だからかレリーズも共通。さすがにクラッチディスクとカバーはＳ４が240ｍｍなので勿論別だが、228ｍｍはＢ５もＢ６も共通なのがわかる。
というわけでＥＣＳの動画でダグラス君（か知らんけどｗ）が紹介しているように、動画の全般に登場するＢ６のマニュアルボックスと同じくB5にも問題なく取り付けできるものと思われる。
もう、コンバージョン用軽量フライホイールをオーダーします。
しかし！ 不明確な点を発見。ＥＣＳのサイトをもう一度見てみる。Ｂ５のページでのＥＣＳステージ１クラッチコンバージョンキットの画像とＢ６のページの同商品の画像をよく見ると・・・・帝王さんは見逃さなかった。
これがＢ５用のＲA4 240ｍｍクラッチコンバージョンキット。
これがＢ６用。
わかりますか？そうです。Ｂ６用では下の方にレリーズシリンダーのプッシュロッドが付属しているのに対してＢ５用は何もありません。動画を見ても後半の方にこのロッドを交換している模様も出ていました。果たして何が違うのか？確かにデュアルマスのフライホイールをソリッドのフライホイールへ変更すれば当然厚さが薄くなり、クラッチ自体がエンジン側へ移動するのでレリーズベアリングも移動する。移動するのは押しつけ側なのでフォークもその分、奥へ入る。奥へ入るならロッドも伸びなければならないので必然的に純正よりも長いプッシュロッドが必要になる。
なぜＢ５のキットには同梱されていないのか？？？ これについてはＥＣＳに直接聞いてもらったが、必要なものはすべて同梱されているしロッドは必要ないとのこと。海外のサイトで検索してみると、この件について心配な方がAudiworldやAudiZineなどのi掲示板にて書き込みしているのを数件見つけたが、ロッドの交換が必須だとはどこにも書いておらず軽量フライホイール装着によってコンタクトポイントが奥になるので仕方ないとしか書いていなかった。
そんな事を書いているうちに、お待たせ～と言わんばかりにこいつが送られてきた。
これです。コンバージョン用のＥＣＳ ＲＡ４ライトウエイトフライホイール。
こいつと先に間違って来ていたこいつが合体するはず・・・・。
あ、合体した(笑) クラッチキット自体はＬＵＫのＯＥＭなので心配してないが、ＥＣＳオリジナルのフライホイールの精度をあまり信用してないのでフライホイール側のピンの位置とクラッチのホールが合うのか心配だったが、きっちりと勘合した。ホント、真っ直ぐ慎重に入れないと駄目ないくらいカッチリしている。
ま、パーツが揃ってしまったのでこれから作業します。
次回の「帝王号のクラッチＯＨ ②」 でフライホイールの軽量化は本当に大丈夫？ということも含めて作業後のインプレを書きます。1.8Ｔの場合は軽量化による弊害についてはあまり情報がないが、これは装着例が少ないだけで実際はどうなのか？？？心配な点がホント多い(笑)
